Community Health Workers Improve Outcomes for Underserved Populations (posted 8/28)Posted: August 28, 2009
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has released a report analyzing the role of Community Health Workers (CHWs). The report entitled Outcomes of Community Health Worker Interventions found that CHWs can serve as a means of improving outcomes for underserved populations for some health conditions. However, the effectiveness of CHWs requires further research that addresses the methodological limitations of prior studies and that contributes to translating research into practice.
